The Syracuse vs. Virginia live stream online and televise 2016 Elite Eight game will feature two ACC squads vying for a spot in the Final Four. The Cavaliers are looking to continue their push towards a first-ever NCAA Championship in school history, while the Cinderella story Orange, a No. 10 seed in this year’s Big Dance, are trying to get their second. The two teams met just once during conference play this season, with Virginia grabbing an eight-point win. Since then, a lot has happened including Cuse emerging as a legitimate title contender. Sunday’s 2016 NCAA live streaming and televised matchup arrives through TBS and March Madness Live networks.
According to ESPN.com in their March 27 game preview, the Syracuse Orange have been holding opponents to just 53.7 points per game so far in the NCAA Tournament. Most recently they held off a fellow Cinderella story, the Gonzaga Bulldogs. A last second shot block sealed a win for the unlikely Elite Eight representatives. Now they’ll try to dethrone another No. 1 seed, the Virginia Cavaliers, a night after two other No. 1 seeds were eliminated. It won’t be easy, as the two teams met once before with Virginia winning the matchup 73-65, but as weeks have gone past, Syracuse may be surging at just the perfect time of the season.
In that game, ACC Player of the Year Malcolm Brogdon scored 21 points, with 12 of them coming in the last 5:45 of the game. London Perrantes and Anthony Gill each added 16 points in the win. Virginia, also known for it’s tight defense, held the Orange to 38.9 percent field goal shooting, while the Cavaliers hit at a rate of 56.8 percent. The game was on their homecourt, with today’s Midwest Region matchup taking place in Chicago, Illinois. While Syracuse has looked great so far in the tournament, so has UVA, as the team is shooting nearly 56 percent, scoring over 80 points a game and holding opponents to just under 62.
Odds makers have Virginia as eight-point favorites heading into today’s matchup. Both teams are 3-0 against the spread overall, with the Cavaliers also 3-0 as the favorite and Cuse 1-0 as the underdog team. On the moneyline, UVA is a -400 favorite with Syracuse listed as +330 underdogs. Today’s over/under points total is at 125 for the complete game. The Orange are currently 20 to 1 long shots to win the National Championship while Virginia has odds of 7 to 2, ranking them below UNC, Villanova and Oklahoma.
