The Syracuse vs. Pittsburgh live stream online and televised 2016 ACC Tournament game will be the first NCAA matchup to tip off a busy Wednesday. Coming into this game, both teams are considered amongst the projected schools to make the Big Dance, but are on the bubble. A loss for the Orange could send them out, or boost their seeding from a “Last Four In” team to a more secure seed in the first round. With the Panthers considered the favorite to win this matchup, will they boost their own resume while sending a fellow ACC squad to the NIT? The 2016 ACC live streaming and TV coverage for this conference tournament arrives through ACC and ESPN Networks.
On March 8, Trib Live reported that this game is considered an NCAA Tournament “play-in game” featuring two teams needing a victory over the other to secure their spot in the Big Dance. It seems more crucial for Syracuse as Pittsburgh has gone 2-0 against them this season and looks to have the stronger resume to make a case for a tournament spot. Both teams finished 9-9 in the conference this season, making for what could be an extremely interesting battle at the Verizon Center. The Panthers seem like they could still make the field of 68 teams with a loss to the Orange on Wednesday, but it would be a “wait and see” type situation on Selection Sunday.
The two teams met at the Carrier Dome most recently on Feb. 20 with Pitt winning it 66-52. Forward Jamel Artis had 21 points and 11 rebounds for the double-double. The Panthers shot 46 percent for the game and outrebounded Syracuse by a 43-23 margin. In the matchup prior to that, Pittsburgh was victorious 72-61 at home with the Panthers winning the battle of the boards there 43-25, showing the disparity in the two teams. Leading the way for the winning side was Artis with 18 points and nine rebounds, while forward Sheldon Jeter came off the bench to nearly add a double-double as well. The winner of their next meeting moves on to Thursday’s quarterfinals against the No. 1 seed North Carolina.
The point spread for this matchup as of Tuesday night had Pittsburgh favorites of three points to win the game, with an over/under points total hovering around 133 for the game. Against the spread this season, Pitt has been 15-15 overall with a 9-8 record as the favorite. Syracuse was 15-16 overall with a 6-6 record against the spread as the underdog. The Orange will want to win this game in order to stay alive in talks to make it into the Big Dance as they are currently looking at being part of the “First Four” games to take place early next week. A loss would boot them from that discussion and probably give them a trip to the 2016 National Invitational Tournament.
