The Syracuse vs. North Carolina live stream online and televised 2016 basketball game will take place as the NCAA regular season schedule is coming to a close. Many teams have just three games left on their schedules, with the ACC becoming more competitive in terms of who will finish with the conference title. The Orange will be coming into the game off a nice home win over North Carolina State, but the Tar Heels will look to bounce back at home after falling to Virginia on the road this weekend. The 2016 NCAA basketball live streaming online and TV coverage arrives via ESPN networks.
An article from The News & Observer on Feb. 27 indicates that Monday’s game will be Senior Night in Chapel Hill for the Tar Heels. For North Carolina, it will surely be an emotional night for starters Marcus Paige and Brice Johnson, two of the team’s biggest leaders this current season. In particular, Johnson is an ACC Player of the Year candidate. Not only will they celebrate their four years playing for the team, but they’ll also try to bounce back at home after losing on the road to Virginia 79-74 this past weekend. Joel Berry II led all players on UNC with 21 points, while Paige scored 13 points and Johnson had 12 points along with seven rebounds.
The Syracuse Orange come into the game after defeating the Wolfpack 75-66 at the Carrier Dome in their own game to honor seniors Trevor Cooney and Michael Gbinije. The two players were celebrated before the game and then Gbinije responded with a career-high game, scoring 34 points to lead his team to the win on 11-for-18 shooting. Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim said of his senior’s superb efforts, “The two threes he made (late in the game) were huge momentum threes. He had a tremendous game, probably as good as any senior as ever had (on Senior Day), as I can recall.” With the win, the Orange moved to 19-10 overall and 9-7 in the ACC. They’re currently projected as a No. 10 seed in the West in Joe Lunardi’s “Bracketology,” but some more big wins to close out the season would certainly help.
The odds for Monday’s matchup favor North Carolina heavily as they were 13-point favorites on the spread as of Sunday night. The over/under points total is right around 147 points for the complete game. Against the spread, Syracuse is 14-15 overall and 6-6 on the road, while North Carolina is 13-13-3 overall and 9-6-3 at home. The Tar Heels are second overall on the future odds list for 2015-16 NCAA Men’s Tournament winner favorites. Syracuse ranks much lower down the list and has odds of 125 to 1 to win it all.
