Super Bowl Sunday in 2016, Super Bowl 50, is on Feb. 7 and begins at 6:30 p.m. ET, according to Newsday on Thursday. It will be the 50th such game that has, more or less, become an unofficial national holiday. Though the main event doesn’t start until evening time, there will be pregame coverage televised practically all day this year. Besides 6:30 p.m. becoming the regular starting time for the game in recent years, so has the expectation that the televised pre-game activities will go on all day long. In fact, the pregame coverage starts as early as 9 a.m.
At 9 a.m., the NFL Network will have “Gameday Morning” going all day until 5:30 p.m. In that programming, the feature will be Brett Favre with portions of the program having Kobe Bryant and Derek Jeter on. At 11 a.m., “Super Bowl 50: Before They Were Pros” will be on the CBS network. The show does pretty much what the title suggests. At 12 p.m., “Road to the Super Bowl” will be the CBS feature. It will, again, as the title suggests, will take in in-depth look at the past season in football. Starting at 1 p.m., “Phil Simms All-Iron Team: Super Bowl Edition will be on CBS. That program goes back to some players of the past like Joe Namath and Mike Singletary. An hour later, at 2 p.m., Gayle King will interview President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle during a four-hour pregame show called “Super Bowl Today.” It, too, is on CBS. A half-an-hour before the game finally begins, “The Kickoff Show” will be on CBS, too. It will have musical performances, team intros and more.
The music on Super Bowl Sunday is always special, too. Lady Gaga will be performing the national anthem. Coldplay, Beyonce and Bruno Mars will be performing during the half-time show this year.
Again, at 6:30 p.m. ET, the 50th Super Bowl game between the Carolina Panthers and the Denver Broncos will begin. According to CBS Sports , the game is held at Levi’s Stadium which is located in Santa Clara, California. Besides watching the game on television, it will be available on computer or tablet at CBSSports.com. Also, it’s available on home entertainment devices such as Android TV, Apple TV, Xbox One and Roku. It should be noted that live streaming on mobile devices is only via eligible Verizon Wireless customers with the NFL Mobile App.

About 1.3 billion chicken wings will be consumed during the game. About 139.4 million pounds of avocados will be eaten. Some 12 million Americans will be watching the game at a bar. Super Bowl Sunday is the day in which there is predicted to be a tremendous increase in drunk driving. Data shows that about a quarter of the Super Bowl viewers watch the game with family members. Many choose to view the game with friends as well as family. Besides being a big day for bars and restaurants that feature a viewing of the game, data says that many more persons actually go privately to watch the game with family and friends. Of all the businesses that do well due to the event, pizza businesses are the biggest winner. Pizza establishments, mostly due to delivery orders, doubles their business on Super Bowl Sunday. Besides the incredibly large amount of pizza eaten, some 28,000,000 pounds of chips are consumed during the day. All in all, an incredible $15.5 billion will be spent on Super Bowl Sunday.
