When you want a fresh and healthy, fancy yet family-friendly, locally sourced gourmet meal that will make your mouth water, head out to Squaw Valley Resort. The farm to table dinner series features fresh food from the Tahoe Food Hub-a local non-profit organization dedicated to connecting small farms within 100 miles of North Lake Tahoe to local shops and restaurants. Each meal is created and served with every attention to detail by Executive Chef Tiffany Swan.
The Farm to Table Dinner + Movie series has been a huge success this winter. Guests at this dinner party enjoyed all the comforts of home as they gather with new and old friends in the Olympic Village Lodge-that has been converted to a giant living room! Guests are greeted by event host Chef Cicely and are invited to make themselves comfortable amidst the classy farm-style decorated room. Around the grand fireplace, guests find a variety of different sized chairs, couches, love-seats, and blankets just inviting a cozy up by the fire that will become the big screen after dinner. Toward the back of the room, long farm style tables beckon with the invitation of deliciousness to be enjoyed. The arrangement of the room allows kids to be kids and play while parents can be parents and have oversight, all adding up to an evening of relaxed fun for everyone.
The evening starts with appetizers and warm beverages as kids kick off their shoes and get cozy with some hot chocolate by the grand fireplace amidst a plethora of bean bag chairs and giant pillows while parents enjoy savory appetizers and their choice of beverages from the bar. At dinner, attendees gather at long farm tables to enjoy the four course family style meal. Chef Cecily explains the menu: “This winter, we are featuring the products and produce that are freshest and closest to us, which includes items such as red-wine braised Hole in One Ranch short ribs, accompanied by blistered brussels sprouts and orzo mac and cheese, capped with carrot cake and cinnamon ice cream.” After dinner, the kids are invited to the front of the room as the movie begins with milk, cookies, and popcorn while parents are welcome to join them or stay at the dinner table for a more formal dessert service and cocktails.
The Farm to Table Dinners will continue through the summer and will be served at KT Base Bar, an outdoor sun deck under 8,000 foot mountain peaks. Chef Tiffany Swan will again be sourcing her food from the Tahoe Food Hub and featuring a spectacular fresh menu. This mouth watering dinner is prepared in the MTN ROOTS food truck focusing on unique food creations. This is an excellent opportunity to spend the evening reconnecting with friends and family as well as meeting new people at this unique Squaw Valley experience. The summer Farm to Table Dinners are scheduled to begin in July and reservations are highly recommended. Farm to table dinners are also available for private events.
