Liesl Kenney, Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows Public Relations Manager, said that the resorts received 17″ of new snow from the storm that blew through the area on Friday. The new snow is allowing more terrain to be opened up by the resorts, according to Kenney.
The new terrain opened Friday off of Hot Wheels and Subway chairlifts at Alpine Meadows. With more snow in the forecast, Squaw Valley anticipates opening Solitude, Siberia Express, Emigrant, Headwall Express, Granite Chief, and KT-22 Express as soon as conditions allow. Alpine Meadows is at the ready to fire up Scott chair. Alpine Meadows also plans to open Tiegel terrain park on Tuesday, December 15, while Squaw Valley plans on opening Belmont terrain park Tuesday, December 15 and Gold Coast terrain park Saturday, December 19. With wind and snow in the forecast, skiers and riders are encouraged to check on conditions via the mobile app, and get the inside scoop on lift openings on the new operations blog.
