The South Carolina primary 2016 live stream online and TV poll results coverage takes place on Saturday, Feb. 20 in the Palmetto State. Recent polls have showed that frontrunner Donald Trump is continuing to enjoy a comfortable lead over his opponents. With a few polls showing Ted Cruz possibly gaining ground, the results in tonight’s event could be an indication that Trump is losing popularity due to his recent controversial comments and feuds, including one with Pope Francis. The 2016 South Carolina primary results live streaming and televised coverage will arrive from various networks on Saturday night.
According to the CBS News in their Feb. 18 report, the outspoken Donald Trump continues to hold a considerable lead over his Republican competitors as they head into the South Carolina primary. Trump reportedly leads among every demographic and was last said to have 35 percent of the vote of the Republicans polled, compared to 18 percent for Ted Cruz and 11 to 12 percent for John Kasich and Marco Rubio. Basically, two-thirds of the voters are currently in support of Mr. Trump, while in other news, Kasich has managed to get himself to a near third place tie with Rubio. Overall, Trump has rated higher than Cruz or Rubio when potential voters were asked if they were confident he could handle the economy and an international crisis. Of note, two Republican primary voter demographics where Trump has a lesser lead are among those who are listed as “very conservative” or “white evangelicals.”
Trump may have lost some popularity due to a recent feud with Pope Francis in which the Pope suggested Trump “is not Christian” for wanting to keep immigrants out of the country via his plan to build a wall. Trump fired back saying it was “disgraceful” for a religious leader to question a person’s faith. He added that “If and when the Vatican is attacked by ISIS, which as everyone knows is ISIS’s ultimate trophy, I can promise you that the Pope would have only wished and prayed that Donald Trump would have been President because this would not have happened.”
The overarching theme in the polls continues to be Trump’s dominant lead and how little it has changed over the months. However, John Kasich has seen his numbers move up, to bring him to a virtual tie for third place. While he has seen a surge in his popularity since previous polls, it seems the campaign may soon be over for Republican candidates Jeb Bush and Ben Carson. They have just four percent, and six percent, respectively, so a concession speech or two may be arriving in the near future.
