You’ve known and loved their seafood bisque, clam chowder and buttery lobster rolls served at the West Palm Beach and Palm Beach Gardens Greenmarkets on the weekends. It’s food so good, it even makes perfect sense for breakfast.
But weekends only come around once a week, and that’s a long time to wait for great seafood, right?
Wait no more: The Boston Chowda Company has brought the best of the blue-and-white market tent to a brick and mortar store in Tequesta.
The market tent and store are part of the larger Boston-based chain that got its start over 40 years ago. And for lovers of New England-style seafood, the new shop offers one more opportunity to get everything they love from the market, and then some.
Food items at the store can be purchased hot, cold, very cold (refrigerated for heating up at home) or frozen for use later. Soup and chowder varieties range from the classic clam chowder, lobster and clam bisques and mixed seafood chowder to Paul Revere chili, Italian Wedding Soup and chicken vegetable soup. Even then non-seafood eaters can find something here in the butternut cranberry bisque and corn chowder.
Other seafood items include salmon burgers, crab cakes, lobster salad, lobster rolls and lobster mac and cheese. Want to make your own lobster-based creation? Boston Chowda can help with that; they sell fresh, cleaned lobster meat at market price. Soups and lobster rolls both come in three sizes, so making several choices to try new items and share with family and friends is easy and relatively inexpensive. “The Monster”-sized lobster roll is $20.95, while 32-ounce containers of soups and bisques are $11. Pasta night at your house might call for their Cajun sausage and chicken sauce; it’s spicy and flavorful. Not in a seafood mood? Try an all-beef, natural casing hotdog, plain or with their chili.
The irony of the store is that it is not open on the weekends. That is when proprietors Steve and Mary Cassidy are working the greenmarkets. But one can live with irony when this taste of New England has finally settled in one place.
