Every once in a while there seems that there is a little mischief going on around here. We all like to venture into areas that are a little “risky”, where there is a little bit of trouble going on! You know what they say, “If I am not in trouble, I am in the wrong place!” Well, not every thing is bad, in fact many times, it is just what “society” says is bad or not good for us. The question is then, who are these people and why do they think they know what is good for you or me?
For example, right now across the world, the fight to end the prohibition of Marijuana is huge. There are 17 countries that are now “Marijuana” friendly, with many “Jumping on the bandwagon.” In our country, there is a mass movement towards the legalization of the “controversial plant: Marijuana” and it will soon be nationwide because face it, do you think that part of the nation is going to just sit around and watch the rest of the nation enjoy the freedoms and reap in the profits from such a lucrative enterprise. Even the “Girl scouts” have jumped into the act. One troop of girl scouts set up a booth outside of a dispensary and advertised with a sign that read, “Satisfy your munchies!” The National Girls Scout organization stated: “it is not against the rules for where you can sell”, so more power to her!
Who knows, maybe the Girl Scouts are making arrangements for “Girl scout cookie edibles?” Just saying…
O.K. back to the recipe today. Food is great naturally, take a great grass fed steak, marbled just right. Then, cooked to perfection, it is really great but you add just a little salt and pepper and Viola, now that steak is beyond great. Then take chicken, well everybody says that everything taste like chicken (if they don’t know what it is they are eating, LOL), so the question is “what does chicken really taste like?” One thing for sure is that chicken cooked down in Jamaica is some great tasting chicken. Jerk chicken is sweet and spicy and just makes the chick taste better, Mon! Jerk seasoning is one of the reasons why and Mango’s Jerkin’ me crazy Island seasoning is a blend of spices gathered over the years of creation. After many attempts, Mango finally got it down and this recipe is a sure winner for many, many years of “Mouthgasms” down the road! Hey Mon, have you had your island style “Mouthgasm” today? If not, get ready to have many!
Now this stuff is good on chicken but it is so good on many other things, too. Take Mango’s sautéed mushrooms, they would not be the same without some of this spice mix. Soups are much better with a pinch (well maybe more). Veggies, well they come “Alive” when tossed with a little of this spice. Enjoy and as always with any spice that packs some heat: don’t rub your eyes or your “Private parts” after touching this spice or else you will be howling and not in “pleasure” (unless you are into pain)!
Mango’s “Jerkin’ me crazy Island seasonings”
- 1 Tablespoon ground Black pepper
- 1 Tablespoon Cayenne pepper
- 1 Tablespoon White pepper
- 4 Tablespoons Garlic powder
- 2 Tablespoon Onion powder
- 2 Tablespoon Dried Parsley
- 1 Tablespoon Paprika
- 1 Tablespoon Ground Sage
- 2 Tablespoons Salt
- 2 Tablespoon Dried thyme
- 2 Tablespoon Ground Allspice
- 1 ½ teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
- 1 ½ teaspoon Ground Nutmeg
- 3 Tablespoon Raw Sugar
Run through a food processor and then get ready to feel like you are in the “Islands”, Mon.
You could actually make a double batch and buy some fancy, little spice bottles and fill them up. Then you could pass them out to some friends then they can experience a “Mouthgasm”, whenever they are in the mood!
Heck, why not make a soup with this or some grilled steaks and mushrooms sautéed with a little of this spice mix? You could even make the ever so good, jerk chicken or maybe all of it and have a big party! Invite some friends and strangers over and celebrate the “Moment!” No one will be complaining and hopefully, everyone will be smiling, laughing and enjoying “LIFE!” Now you will be the “Spice of the party”, you will be “Spice-a-delic!” O.K. that is enough, Mango!
Wow, the week just seems to be flying by and that is why it is so important to capture each and every moment! Don’t worry about what is going to happen, because if you think about it you are never in “the future”, no, you are always in “the NOW.” Embrace NOW… smell it, feel it, hold on to it because this moment to shall pass! Then you are into the next moment. So now, enjoy that one too!
Remember to SMILE, to have “Gladitude” and to always be GRATEFUL! Being grateful is like holding a “key” to the Universe, because when you are grateful, that just opens the door to so many other great opportunities! Until next time, live the life you love… YOURS! Peace and love
