February is National Snack Month and let’s face the facts, we all love to snack. Maybe it’s during the afternoon slump, on long car rides, during your favorite television shows, or a night of insomnia. We are a snacking nation.
A global report issued by Neilsen.com in September of 2014 revealed that snack sales in North America would top out at 124 billion dollars. You probably have a pantry full of salty and sweet snacks right now and your desk drawer may even be stocked with a few. According to the report, “More than three-quarters of global respondents (76%) eat snacks often or sometimes to satisfy their hunger between meals or to satisfy a craving, and 45% of global respondents consume snacks as a meal alternative—52% for breakfast, 43% for lunch and 40% for dinner.” So the odds of you snacking while you’re reading this right now is pretty good. Since as a society we love to snack the best thing to do is to start snacking healthy.
