Shangri-La Hotel Doha opens in Qatar

Doha, the capital city of the Middle Eastern country of Qatar, has a new luxury hotel. The Shangri-La Hotel, Doha opened February 23rd. The five-star property is a blend of both Shangri-La’s Far Eastern and Qatari Middle Eastern hospitality.

First impressions
Guests experience the property’s Arabic hospitality upon arrival, first greeted outside by a resident falconer, complete with a resident falcon. Upon entry, a traditional greeting of coffee is presented, special coffee prepared to an traditional Arabic nomadic recipe.

Stay in style
The Shangri-La’s 272 rooms and suites all feature amazing views of Doha through floor-to-ceiling windows and the hotel is housed within a beautiful new skyscraper. Close to the central business district, the hotel is connected to Doha’s biggest mall, City Cenre Mall, filled with luxury brands. The popular waterfront promenade is only a short walk away. As with other Shangri-La properties, the rooms and suites feature modern, Asian-inspired luxury design, state-of-the-art technology and the brand’s legendary marble bathrooms.

The Horizon Club
The Shangri-La Hotel, Doha features the brand’s signature Horizon Club and Horizon Club Lounge, here housed on the hotel’s 42nd floor. The Horizon Club Lounge, accessible to Club- and Suite-level guests and offering them private, VIP check-in, has snacks, cocktails, breakfast, meeting rooms, all with breathtaking views of the Doha skyline.

Doha dining
Guests (and locals) have seven bars and restaurants to choose from, highlights include Fuego, the property’s Argentine restaurant and Yabby, which serves what is already considered some of the city’s best seafood.

Fun in the sun
Guests can enjoy the desert heat by lounging around the Shangri-La’s 20,000-plus square foot pool deck complete with a lagoon pool and a splash pool, all surrounded by 70 shady trees. The first Asian spa in Doha, CHI, the spa has a complete range of luxury treatments.

Doha
The bustling capital of Qatar is popular business destination in the Middle East and is fast becoming a tourist and transit hub as well. National carrier Qatar Airways connects Doha’s amazing Hamad International Airport with Los Angeles, New York and Philadelphia, with flights to Boston and Atlanta coming in 2016.
