A serial cat killer has been terrorizing a town in South London for the past year with cat owners finding their beloved pets mutilated and decapitated. The cats were found on doorsteps, in gardens or on the lawn and this sadistic cat killer may not just zero in on the feline set after all.
For the last year the people in Croydon thought there was a cat killer targeting just their neighborhood, but it now seems these sadistic deeds were done by an animal killer working all across all of London. Authorities have found dead animals such as birds, foxes, rabbits and puppies and their deaths were under the same circumstances, according to the Washington Post on April 27.
This killer was removing the organs, paws and ears of cats and in some incidents the blood was drained from the cats found dead. Today authorities believe there is a deranged individual preying upon other animals across London.
Law enforcement believes that this is a single individual who is a serial animal killer and the pressure is on to find this person as these sadistic killings have become so frequent. The person doing such evil crimes has been dubbed the “Croydon Cat Killer” or the “Croydon Cat Ripper,” according to the Tyler Morning Telegraph.
Authorities find one of the most troubling aspects of these animal killings is that they get the sense this killer is trying to send a message of some sort. No one knows what that message may be, but it isn’t a good one that’s for sure.
Scotland Yard started the investigation back in January with no suspect in mind so far. Tony Jenkins, who is co-founder of South Norwood Animal Rescue and Liberty (SNARL) talked about these killings. He said:
“It is often right on people’s doorsteps or driveways. The killer clearly wants the dead animals found. This isn’t someone coming home and kicking the dog because they’re frustrated at work,” he added. “This is very deliberate. It’s an attack on people as well. Some people have been completely violated by the whole thing.”
The number of animals killed by this person range in estimates from 50 to 150. SNARL is now reviewing 80 to 100 more reports of animal deaths to find a link. SNARL’s veterinarians are examining an additional 20 cases of dead animals to see if they are linked to this animal killer. Today authorities are certain this deranged individual has expended their hunting ground.
Cats have been found with undigested chicken in their stomachs, which suggests the killer baits the animals. Some of the cats died from “blunt force trauma,” consistent with being run over by a car, hit by a baseball bat or kicked. Others have suggested the animals were killed by being thrown up against a wall. The investigation is on-going and needless to say catching this animal killer is imperative because animals keep dying these tortured deaths.
