The couple who turned out to be the San Bernardino shooters had some red flags pop up as far as one neighbor was concerned, but the fear of being accused of racial profiling kept her from speaking out. Aaron Elswick, whose friend resided near Syed Rizwan Farook and Tashfeen Malik said the neighbor is regretting not calling the authorities today.
According to DNA India News on December 4, Elswick said the neighbor, who is a woman, claimed that besides fearing accusations of racial profiling she was also second guessing herself. This neighbor was thinking that maybe she was seeing something that wasn’t really there.
The neighbor said that the couple received a constant flow of packages to their home and she saw people working in the couple’s garage all hours of the night. There was also an abundance of people coming in and out of the house. While these things seemed to add up, DNA News asks if it was because of the couple’s religion that the woman feared making the call? Authorities throughout the country are asking the public “if they see something, say something.”
According to ABC News today, the house was full of weapons and pipe-bomb making material and there was no doubt this couple was working on this for a while. Some believe that the San Bernardino shooting may not have been their original target, according to Fox News live on Friday morning. They believed something happened and the couple decided to make this a target, but they were planning something different or a even a second attack.
An anonymous tip in this case may have stopped this incident and quite possibly 14 people who are dead may be alive today. Right before the September 11 terrorism attacks on the Twin Towers in 2001, actor James Woods got off a plane in Los Angeles that had departed from Logan Airport in Boston and reported something he witnessed and thought was odd to the authorities on the ground. He also reported this to the flight attendants on the plane as well. This was one month before the September 11 terrorism attacks on US soil.
According to an archived article from ABC News, Woods “was alone in first class with the four men and noticed during the entire cross-country flight that none of them had anything to eat or drink, nor did they read, sleep, or appear to make themselves comfortable. They sat erect in their seats and stared straight ahead, saying nothing to flight attendants and speaking to each other only in inaudible tones.”
It is believed that what Woods had witnessed was a dry run for the September11 attacks, as the planes that were hijacked came out of Logan Airport, where he departed from. While nothing like this magnitude of terrorism on U.S. soil could even be imagined back then, what Woods reported wasn’t investigated at length, as it would have been today.
Woods called the FBI to tell them what he had witnessed, but he did this after the September 11 attacks. He wasn’t alone, as other people reported odd things they had witnessed, but not until after those planes crashed into their targets. They didn’t think too much of what they saw until that horrific day in September of 2001. Today you can’t wait… as you know exactly what these terrorists are capable of and every minute that you wait could mean loss of life. As today the terrorists measure their success in body counts.
