Texas Champions weekend happens over the next two days at Sam Houston Race Park, with several stakes races for Texas bred horses. It should make for an entertaining two days of racing.
If you are making your first trip to the track, a friendly remind that the audio book Acing Racing 2016 is a terrific resource for beginners and also has a segment on trifectas and superfectas that are a must for seasoned pros. It is roughly an hour and a half and has everything you need to get started.
With that in mind, here are selections for Friday’s and Saturday’s races. They are also available on the free tip sheet at the track and at shrp.com. We are providing them here as well on a test basis. If there is enough interest, we will continue throughout the meet. If not, we will do them for the big racing days.
These are the same picks you will get on the tip sheet at the track. However, here we provide our favorite races. The Saturday card looks much more enticing.
How the picks work: They are a projection of the most likely winners of the race in order of preference — not necessarily an exact projection of order of finish.
Good luck at the track.
