The Russell Athletic Bowl 2015 live stream online and televised matchup will feature two premier squads in the nation that didn’t make the playoffs as North Carolina vs. Baylor will play for the sake of pride. Both teams finished with respectively win-loss records, but failed to make it into the College Football Playoffs this season, but can certainly build towards next season with a big win. Based on the points total that’s been set up for this matchup, it could be quite a shootout at the Florida Citrus Bowl. Today’s North Carolina vs Baylor live stream and televised matchup comes via ESPN networks on Tuesday night.
The Bay News 9 site reported on Dec. 29 that this will make for the first-ever meeting between the two schools in the history of college football. The Baylor Bears actually started the season ranked as No. 4 in the Top 25, but injuries hit them at the quarterback spot with Seth Russell going down to a broken bone in his neck and then replacement Jarrett Stidham breaking a bone in his foot to miss the last two games. Third-string QB Chris Johnson practiced this past week and should see considerable time on the field due to the injuries. Baylor comes into this game after a disappointing loss to Texas, a team which also upset College Football Playoff team, Oklahoma, this past season.
The North Carolina Tar Heels have also had an impressive season, finishing as next-best team behind Clemson. Unfortunately, the Tigers are in the College Football Playoffs and Carolina is not after falling to the Tigers in the ACC title game. Still, the Tar Heels finished out the season 11-2 overall and have looked great with their dynamic quarterback Marquise Williams. He’s had 2,605 yards by air and 786 on the ground, which has led to a total of 28 touchdowns for his team. Baylor’s task will be trying to slow him down, or UNC could potentially have its first 12-win season in the history of the college football program.
Baylor first opened for the Vegas spread as 3-1/2 point favorites but that has since changed as North Carolina has moved to two-point favorites on the line. On the moneyline, Carolina is a -125 favorite while Baylor is a +115 underdog. As a favorite, the Tar Heels are 7-3-0 against the spread, and 8-5-0 overall. The over/under points total is set at 70 for the game, indicating a potential for one high-scoring affair in Florida.
