Rolling Stones under strict security in Buenos Aires after tour worker murder

by byte clay

On Feb. 13, 2016, the Rolling Stones performed the third of three concerts at Estadio Único Ciudad de La Plata in Buenos Aires, as part of their “America Latina Olé” tour. The tour goes to stadiums in South America and Mexico in February and March 2016. It is the Stones’ first tour of South America since 2006.

Several news outlets, including Metro, reported that the band was under tighter-than-usual security due to the murder of a local concert employee — 55-year-old Pedro Luis Tabares — who was shot to death in an attempted robbery of concessions money from the Rolling Stones’ Buenos Aires concert on Feb. 10, 2016.

Metro reported: “The shooting took place as three cars attempted to intercept a van carrying the money and Pedro was a passenger in the van as it left the stadium in the early hours of the morning. The Argentinian police believe an insider had tipped off the criminals as they knew the van’s route and timings. A 31-year-old Colombian, named locally as Jhon Alexander Bobadilla Vega, was arrested.”

The Rolling Stones have not commented on the murder.

According to the official Rolling Stones website, here is the set list from the concert:
