River Jordan Project will bring together several gospel artists for a Gospel Extravaganza. The concert is a fundraiser for the non-profit organization that exists to meet the needs of families and communities. The event will take place Saturday, April 2 at Evangel Assembly, where Rev. Dr. St. Clair Mitchell is Senior Pastor.
Independent artist Nikea Marie is the featured performer. Other artists include Frank Hooker, who led the popular R&B group, Frank Hooker and Positive People in the late ’70s and early ’80s. In 1987, Hooker released his debut gospel album, “Hear the Word” which peaked at #30 on Billboard’s Gospel Albums chart.
Euvon and Janet Jones with Vintage and the Evangel Assembly Young Adult Praise and Worship Choir will also take to the stage to provide a night of uplifting, foot-stomping music that will stir the soul.
For more than eleven years the River Jordan Project has served needy families with food, clothing and services in the Southern and Central Maryland region of Prince George’s County.
When asked about the vision for the ministry, River Jordan founder, Rev. Dr. Robert Screen said, “We think we are an asset to the community to bring unity, the bond of togetherness. We bring Jesus Christ in a holistic fashion to empower the spirit, mind and body. We think that we complete the job that our Lord and savior began in his ministry. We feel that we are an extension of what he was doing in his walk in his day. We are just blessed to be a part of something that we pray that will completely complement our community in the most efficient, fullest and most productive way that we can give.”
Tickets are $30 and $40 for VIP seating. Tickets may be purchased at Eventbrite or order tickets by contacting Rev. Tierney Screen at 301.273.8704, or visiting the River Jordan Project website. Tickets may also be purchased at the door.
