While there is one pro controller on the shelves for the Xbox One, for those gamers that are looking to take their gaming to the next level, it is important for those seeking an alternative to know that there are other options. However, do PlayStation 4 owners have an option at all? The answer to that is, “Most Definitely!”
SCUF Gaming has provided us with a couple of controllers that offer an alternative to the standard controller for those who want to customize their gaming experience. Not only did they send their pro Infinity1 controller, which is geared toward Xbox One and PC owners, but they also included the SCUF 4PS for the PlayStation 4 and PC owners looking for a controller that truly helps up their game.
The controllers can be ordered directly from SCUF Gaming’s site, allowing room for a more customized and ergonomic feel to the controllers. Let’s go ahead and do a quick rundown of the features that the controllers sport.
Both include grips on the back of the handle sections of the controllers which will allow for comfort and resistance to slipping. This will be the first thing that is noticed when the controller is picked up and held. This is great for those who get sweaty palms in the middle of action.
A disc on the front of the controller can be added for those who do not want to use the directional pad. This is usually used for fighting games and consists of a rubber texture, rather than a hard, shiny plastic that will keep the finger from slipping. This option can be added to the controller for about $10.
The analogue sticks have a higher profile than those of the standard PlayStation 4 controllers. While they still come with the standard default PlayStation 4 controller height analogues, they can also be picked up in a medium and long length for a slight price difference, which feel much better playing with. The analogue sticks also include the option of being either concave or convex. The concave analogue dips down in the center, whereas the convex is more like a dome shape and deciding which to choose from really depends on the player’s style of play.
The sleek colors add to the bragging rights of SCUF controllers. They will definitely catch the eye of competitors when taken to a tournament. There are several colors to choose from when customizing a SCUF controller. The 4PS has nine colors to choose from for the body of the controller and the Infinity1 has quite a bit more, in terms of color options. The LED on the Infinity1 can also be customized in color, with four to choose from, not to mention the variety of button colors and colors for the SCUF rings that go around the analogues. All in all, the Infinity1 has more options in the color department for the overall look of the controller, plus added options for hair triggers and the trigger stop mechanism.
Colors and other modifications aside, what truly makes these controllers are the Paddles. The Paddles are the complete game changer when it comes to both the Infinity1 and the 4PS controllers. The Infinity1 comes with up to four Paddles and the 4PS comes with two. The patented paddle system allows the player to keep their thumbs on the analogues to shorten response time when performing other actions, by having them take place of the buttons on the controller. They come preassigned to their corresponding buttons, but SCUF allows these to be mapped out to the player’s liking with the EMR Mag Key (Electro Magnetic Remapping Key), which is a mere $9 more to the package.
SCUF Gaming Infinity1 and 4PS controllers are highly recommended for those wanting to up their game and even go pro. SCUF controllers are endorsed by the leagues and over 90% of pro gamers use SCUF and they’ve teamed up with Denial eSports, as well. Having been sent both, we are believers and ended up ordering two additional 4PS controllers for our home. They truly make a difference in the gameplay experience and save the player’s hand who uses the claw. The Paddles allow for split-second actions to be performed without having to remove the thumb from the analogue and they are customizable to each player’s preference in gameplay.
