Syncing Forward is brilliantly written to entice sci-fi fans and at the same time packed with heart wrenching drama that will touch any reader. If you can extend your life many of times beyond your current life expectancy and can only view the passing days in glimpses, will you? Being a father of two daughters, I was able to connect with the protagonist immediately. The thought of going to sleep for one day and waking up to find my daughters all grown up punches a hole in my heart.
I was provided with the audiobook by the author, and I wanted to stay up all night to finish listening to the story. The narrator of the audiobook, Will Damrom, was also fantastic. Every voice was distinct. He didn’t try to awkwardly push his voice into a higher pitch for female characters, but was convincing enough with just his inflection.
Lawrence masterfully weaves together the tear jerking moments with suspense and intrigue about the mysterious drug that was coursing through the protagonist’s body. Along with Damron’s amazing performance, Syncing Forward could easily be the best indie audio book I’ve ever listed to. There was truly not a dull moment.
