Husband-and-wife-team Chef Noah and Marin von Blom opened Restaurant Marin, a “modern day diner” approximately one month ago, brining their second restaurant to the South Coast Collection (SoCo) in Costa Mesa. The newest endeavor is located next door to their sister restaurant ARC. Restaurant Marin is located at 3321 Hyland Ave.
Restaurant Marin, named after managing partner Marin Howarth von Blom, serves breakfast all day, lunch, dinner, and dessert from 7 a.m. to midnight daily in a 1,000-square-foot space that features 30 seats with indoor and patio dining. While the décor is modern-deco, it features contemporary and vintage elements such as brushed nickel, hues of blue, and crisp white. It sets the scene for the modern day diner.
“This concept is meant to be fresh, modern and cozy for our guests, said Marin Howarth von Blom. “Introducing a California Diner concept was important for us so that we could offer guests fresh and light alernative to ARC.”
Chef Noah’s breakfast menu will include such items as fresh-baked brioche, English muffin sandwiches, blueberry pancakes, housemade classic French pate, house-smoked salmon, homemade granola, and a variety of toasts and egg dishes.
Lunch offerings are a selection of salads and sandwiches such as grilled shrimp Louie and grilled steak salads. Also on the menu are butter-poached lobster rolls, fish with chips, tacos (choice of lobster, shrimp and short ribs), and many more items. Dinner is diner-worthy: classic meatloaf, bouillabaisse with halibut, mussels, scallop and grilled shrimp; and a Stroganoff with filet mignon.
A visit to Restaurant Marin wouldn’t be complete without dessert—pies, cake and crumbles.
The restaurant power couple operates their growing restaurant business under DirtySexyHappiness Hospitality Group. It consists of three distinct concepts based in Orange County. ARC opened in Spring 2013. Restaurant Marin opened in March 2016 and a third restaurant The Guild Club will be the latest to join the SoCo collection sometime in June.
