Oscar Riddler and Mao Joker are two loving brothers who are desperate for a loving forever home after more than a decade of heartbreaking rejections. Oscar and Mao first came to Purrfect Pals Cat Rescue in Washington State in 2005 when they were cute little kittens. They were adopted quickly, but were returned in 2012 when their family encountered “personal problems” and couldn’t keep them.
Adopted again in 2013, they were returned in September of 2015 because of “litter box issues,” which were thought to be related to an overactive household with active kids and other animals. Purrfect Pals thought they had found their forever home in December of 2015, but they were quickly dumped at the adopter’s girlfriend’s mother’s house (say that 3 times fast)! It’s not known what happened with that adopter, but Purrfect Pals did learn there was a dog in that house the boys did not adjust well to.
After so much heartbreak, these boys need a lucky break – and a home where they’ll be loved unconditionally, forever – no matter what. Purrfect Pals wrote on their Facebook page: “They are two of the most loving and truly bonded cats we have ever seen. They will give their family a ton of love in return for a home with minimal stress, affection, a few cozy napping spots and no dogs, please.”
Oscar and Mao have received medical treatment since they were returned to Purrfect Pals. Oscar had progressive pigmentation of the iris of his left eye, and this can progress to a malignant condition, so his left eye was removed only a few weeks ago. Oscar is healing and adapting well – losing his eye hasn’t slowed him down a bit. Now he only needs a loving home to heal his heart, too. According to Purrfect Pals, “Oscar is one of the sweetest cats on earth.”
Mao had some medical care, as well: he had an abdominal mass that was aspirated, but he has a clean bill of health. It was discovered that Mao’s mass was a lipoma (a benign fatty tumor.) Oscar and Mao’s blood work revealed that they were within normal limits.
Purrfect Pals wrote: “Oscar and Mao are affectionate, quiet, loving gentlemen who are looking for a quiet, safe home where they can spend the rest of their lives together free of small children, other cats, dogs, and stress. They would love to sit in laps, cuddle, snuggle, ankle rub, head butt and generally show their undying affection to the family willing to give them another chance at happiness. If you have it in your heart to give these guys their perfect home, come meet them at the Woodinville Petsmart, located at 17845 Garden Way NE.”
If you are looking to add to your family, please consider Oscar and Mao. They have so much love to give. And if you aren’t looking to adopt at this time, please SHARE their story! Sharing truly does make a difference.
Purrfect Pals cats come microchipped, spayed/neutered and current on all vaccinations, including rabies. All cats in their offsite adoption centers have tested negative for FIV and Leukemia and were treated for fleas and worms by our shelter’s veterinarian. A $100 adoption donation is required for each cat (bonded pairs have a $150 donation fee for both) and this includes a certificate for a free veterinary well-check exam. For a limited time, Purrfect Pals will help vintage cats (ages seven and up) cruise into their new home: they’re 50% off through the end of May.
Purrfect Pals is a nonprofit, no-kill cat shelter and sanctuary committed to rescuing and placing cats and kittens in loving, responsible homes. In addition to adopting cats through partner store adoption centers, we help place special needs cats and provide a comfortable long-term sanctuary for cats diagnosed with FeLV and FIV+ cats, ill, and elderly cats and for cats with behavioral issues.
