It’s the moment we’ve all been waiting for. Festival season is here which means more music, more fashion and more inspiration to dive into. Coachella kicks off this weekend which has Southern California locals abuzz with the hope of discovering some new and exciting trends that are emerging onto the scene.
In honor of this occasion, byteclay.com sat down with the incredible IDM/Soul artist, NoMBe. NoMBe, which is an acronym for Noah McBeth, is a man of many talents. From b-boy to producer to groundbreaking musician, his viral hit “California Girls” has surpassed eight million streams worldwide and has his many fans craving more of his unique sound.
He recently shared a stage with famed recording artist, Miguel, at Bardot’s School Night! here in Los Angeles, and after an incredible run at SXSW, he’s gearing up to take the stage at this year’s Lightning In A Bottle in May as well as at the Northern Nights Music Festival in July.
Growing up in Germany, NoMBe spent most of his early years between there and Italy. He went from playing piano, to guitar, to writing and producing his own music, which allowed him to establish a sound that is entirely his own. Inspired by artists like Tame Impala, NoMBe’s hip-hop, EDM and funk influences go beyond melody, they transcend into his outlook on life and his individual style in general.
A world traveler and master of four languages, NoMBe told byteclay.com that he draws everything from real-life experiences and believes you should, “Do exactly what it is you want to do and do it 100 percent of the time”. It’s this kind of energy and devotion that he puts into every aspect of his life.
He attributes his spirited sense of fashion to his lovely girlfriend and stylist, Bukunmi Grace. He told byteclay.com that, as an artist, the beautiful thing about what you wear is that it helps you get into character when you’re on-stage. He said that he really doesn’t look to what’s trending in the fashion world because to him, it’s all about being comfortable. When asked how he would define his style, NoMBe chuckled and said, “One-half hippie and one-half pirate”. Just like his music, it’s his own thing. There are certain pieces that he is favorable towards, like the incredible jewelry from Vitaly, and, he even hinted that it’s possible he could have his own line in the future. Of course, if it’s anything like NoMBe himself, whatever he creates will be unmatched by anything else you’ve ever seen.
As for what else is in store, you can expect lots of great music, lots of fun, and lots of reasons to be inspired. His advice when it comes to discovering your own style, “Find your strength”, he said. “Find what you bring to the table that nobody else has. Remain determined and keep discovering. No matter what, always do your own thing”.
