The Real Madrid vs. Roma live stream online and televised 2016 UEFA Champions League matchup gets going on Wednesday afternoon for United States viewers. These two teams are part of the important Round of 16 which will soon yield just a few teams vying for the championship. As of right now, Roma is considered a strong team but certainly not of the caliber of the favorites Real Madrid. The Madrid club is currently among the top favorites to win it all making this a matchup their fans will want to see. The 2016 UEFA Champions League live streaming online and televised coverage comes via Fox Sports on Wednesday.
The Goal.com website reported on Feb. 17 that Madrid has now won five of their last six games since Zinedine Zidane took over first-team affairs. Michael Laudrup, formerly of the Madrid club, said he expects this game will be a “walkover” for his former team due to how good they’ve looked and the fact Roma just hasn’t looked up to par in their games. Laudrup said, “I saw Roma against Barcelona at Camp Nou and, even though they had important players missing like [Daniele] De Rossi, Barcelona trampled all over them.Having the second game at home, Real Madrid shouldn’t have a lot of problems.”
Zidane has been in place with Madrid since the departure of Rafael Benitez and has done a fine job, with his only other game besides the five wins out of the past six being a draw. In today’s game, it’s clear that Cristiano Ronaldo is one to watch, but Roma boss Luciano Spalletti has said there are no special plans to defend or wear down the star player. Spalletti said, “I have to let whoever is playing in the same area as him know that he has the chance to match Cristiano Ronaldo.” Should Roma managed to get to the quarterfinals, it would make for the first time they’ve done so since 2008.
Vegas odds makers first listed Real Madrid as -107 favorites with Roma as a +315 underdog. A draw is currently listed as +252 on the moneyline. The over/under is currently at 2-1/2 goals for the complete game. In terms of a favorite to win the UEFA Champions League, Real Madrid is a 5 to 1 favorite, making them third overall behind Barcelona and Bayern Munich. Roma is currently more of a longshot at 100 to 1 odds to win the 2015-16 Champions League.
