Hurry up, if you enjoy parody and want a good laugh, get your tickets for the Real Housewives of Toluca Lake: The Musical at LA’s Falcon Theatre in Burbank, it only runs until May 1, 2016. This is one of the funniest plays to hit town and the theatre that Garry Marshall built. Besides offering rib tickling laughs, the cast shows off their amazing talent for singing and dancing—not to mention an epic energy from all. The book, music, and lyrics were written by Molly Bell. The arrangements and additional music are from Dolores Duran-Cefalu. And the show was directed perfectly by Roger Bean for this fifth production of the Falcon’s 2015-2016 Season.
Like the title suggests the play is about rich Valley house wives Joanne, Babette, Penny, Lulu, and Beezus who ape all those TV series in a very comical way. There is actually one male actor (Marc Ginsburg) who plays several different roles from Gay husband to bon vivant, exercise guru, TV shopping show host and even a woman, and he’s fantastic at all as well as singing and dancing. We’re talking soap opera, reality TV ploys of scandal, deceit, betrayals, obsession with fitness, weight and looks and indulgence. Super sidesplitting skits include Bounce for Obese Babies where Ginsburg leads the ladies on fit ball workouts; a doggy show that will knock your socks off and a grand finale no one expected. The leading ladies who deftly portray Toluca Lake house wives include actresses Anita Barone, Jenna Coker-Jones, Cynthia Ferrer, Meredith Patterson, and Adrienne Visnic and they are absolutely fabulous.
