It appears that the “Ready, Set, Work” Technical Center Guarantee Challenge may be one of the most innovative approaches in encouraging students to further their education or join the workforce in Florida for decades! Recently all 28 Florida colleges unanimously voted to accept the “Ready, Set, Work” College Challenge of graduating 100% of their full-time students to attend a four-year university or join the workforce.
In addition, 44 of Florida’s Technical Colleges and Centers accepted the “Ready, Set, Work” Guarantee Challenge which guarantees to businesses that their workers will be ready to work on the very first day on the job, or will be retrained at no cost to the business or the student. Participation in these challenges will create opportunities for the students in classrooms to ensure that they are able to reach their future career goals.
Commissioner of Education Pam Stewart said, “The ‘Ready, Set, Work’ Technical Center Guarantee Challenge is a tremendous opportunity for the students of Florida; they can train in a program with the confidence that their skills upon graduation will be put to immediate and effective use. I applaud Governor Scott for establishing a benchmark which will continue to improve the reputation of Florida’s workforce, both locally and nationally.”
