Prince Rogers Nelson, better known to the world as Prince, was found dead at his Chanhassen Paisley Park home this morning at around 9:43 AM. Carver County Sheriff’s office were called to the pop icon’s home for a medical emergency of a male who was not responsive just before 10 AM this morning, and later details emerged that it was indeed the legendary pop star. Details will be forthcoming on the cause of death after an autopsy is completed. Upon hearing the news of Prince’s passing, thousands began to gather outside his Paisley Park residence, directly across from his home.
A DJ named Michael whom Prince befriended shared “He was the soundtrack to my life, he gave me a chance a small kid from Minnesota.” He went on describing how he looked on Saturday at his exclusive party at Paisley Park, “Prince seemed his usual self on Saturday night he was really excited, just wanted to show the new purple piano that he got from Yamaha, he also had a guitar but said he wasn’t going to play it just yet, he was focused on the piano at this time.”
First Avenue, where Prince’s career exploded after filming Purple Rain, posted on their social networking page with the icon’s star along with others outside of the club, “Our hearts are broken. Prince was the Patron Saint of First Avenue. He grew up on this stage, and then commanded it, and he united our city. It is difficult to put into words the impact of his death will have on the entire music community, and the world. As the tragic news sinks in, our thoughts are the Prince’s family, friends and fans. We deeply mourn the loss of our friend, a true star. Rest in peace and power Prince.”
Just last week the pop icon was on the east coast making up previous canceled performances having come down with the flu and even an unplanned emergency stop while back from Atlanta last Friday to Moline Illinois to be treated for flulike symptoms. A few hours later he was discharged and returned home to Minnesota to recover.
Prince was set to release his first biography next year tentatively titled “The Beautiful Ones” and was currently on his Piano and a Microphone tour. All of Minnesota and the world is mourning the loss of the true icon, through social networking, many celebrities and fans are sounding off on the impact the death of the reclusive singer songwriter has had on them throughout the day. Many people that came to the exclusive party on Saturday night, said that he was full of energy and joy and didn’t look like he was ailing at all.
Earlier in the week, Prince visited the local Electric Fetus and purchased a Stevie Wonder record on Tuesday and tweeted about his experience. The shop owner thought he looked healthy and well as he personally rang up his purchase and mentioned that he hopes he was feeling better. It’s not known if Prince responded back or just smiled.
Prince is gone, but his memory will live on forever in the hearts and minds of all who love and appreciate his music. There was a haze that cascaded the skies in Chanhassen Minnesota today in the early morning hours, that took on the color of purple and people believed that it was Prince filling the skies all around them with purple rain.
