On Saturday, a Providence vs. North Carolina live stream online and televised 2016 NCAA basketball game features the a No. 1 Tar Heels seed taking on a lower-seeded Friars team looking for an upset. UNC comes in after holding off No. 16 seed Florida Gulf Coast in the first round. Providence comes in after getting a last second layup against the USC Trojans. Now the Big East and ACC collide in this second round battle with the winner moving on to the Sweet 16 round of the NCAA Tournament. This latest UNC live streaming online and TV matchup will be on the March Madness Live service for free viewing in the United States.
On March 19, the CBS Sports website reported that the Providence Friars have been led by the duo of Kris Dunn and Ben Bentil, who helped the team win its first NCAA Tournament game in about two decades. Dunn earned Big East Player of the Year honors this past season and currently averages 16 points per game. Lentil puts up 21.1 points a game, with the two players accounting for almost half of their team’s points and made shots. They also have hit 57 percent of their made free throws. Against USC, Providence put up 70 points and right on cue, Bentil and Dunn finished with exactly half of those. They’ll try to keep that 1-2 punch going against a tough UNC team with National title aspirations.
The Tar Heels easily handled FGCU in the opening round with a rout, but their defensive capabilities were brought into question as the Eagles kept it close, trailing by just a point at the half. The opponents also shot 60 percent in the first half, before UNC responded with the surge in the second. One stat that definitely plays to Carolina’s advantage is the fact they are 32-1 in games placed in their home state. Their last and only loss in that record was back in 1979. Tonight’s game takes place about a half hour from their home campus, meaning there will be plenty of Tar Heel blue represented throughout the stands. Look for Carolina’s Kennedy Meeks to come out with an improved performance after a 2-for-9 and four points outing against FGCU.
