It’s one of the biggest events in teenage life – going to the prom; and, contrary to popular belief it is perfectly acceptable to attend your prom with someone who is just a friend. Additionally, throw those silly (not to mention outdated) ideas that the guy has to do the asking out the window. The truth of the matter is that girls can and do ask guys to the prom and it is not a social taboo.
There is no reason to panic about asking someone to the prom. Even though a lot guys put up a good front, most are intimidated when it comes to asking someone to be their prom date. The first thing to do is figure out who you know that will most likely say yes to your invitation. Next, don’t wait too long to ask and March is the perfect time to ask (you are far enough out from the date of your prom to give proper notice without planning too far in advance.)
Do keep the expense of prom in mind: attire, accessories, transportation, and, photos are all items that need to be added into your prom budget. Other expenses may include: haircut/hair style, nails/manicure and corsages/boutonnieres. So, by securing your prom date early, you are also giving the person going with you to pay for the items and services needed for the big night.
After prom doesn’t always mean going to a hotel with friends for all night party. Instead, you can go into a major city like New York or Chicago and have a great late night dinner. You could also hire a limousine or limo bus which is a very safe (not to mention parent friendly) way to extend your night out. Just don’t expect alcohol to be supplied and don’t be foolish enough to sneak it in the limo with you. Any reputable limo company will have the driver on the look out for drugs and alcohol and to confiscate immediately if minors have these items in their possession.
