Hey lovelies, so this week I was lucky enough to receive and test products to review by Macadamia Professionals. I immediately jumped at the opportunity because I have worked with them before on their Natural Oil Care Line and loved it. However this time around my experience was okay. I was able to test out the entire Nourishing Moisture line which consisted of: Nourishing Moisture Shampoo and conditioner, Nourishing Moisture Masque, Nourishing Oil Spray, and the Curl Enhancing Spray. Each product is meant to control frizz, hydrate hair, and create the balance between moisture and strength. Even though the line is meant for medium to coarse hair; the shampoo, conditioner, and masque has a really thick consistency which made my hair tangled and more frizzy. Although my hair is a kinky-curly texture, I believe their Ultra Rich Moisture line would have done significantly better even though its meant for very coarse to coiled hair.
However, I would recommend the Curl Enhancing Spray and Nourishing Moisture Spray. The oil spray doubles as a spot treatment if you suffer from dry spots on your scalp and as an oil sheen if your hair is lacking shine. I used it as a spot treatment for my hairline, as an oil sheen, and as a sealant when I did my wash and go. The only con I can think of is the packaging; I really liked the glass bottle of the Healing Oil Spray from the original line and wish this too came in a glass bottle.
The Curl Enhancing Spray on the other hand, claims to define natural curl patterns but on my hair it was a little too lightweight to do that so I instead would recommend using it as a curl refresher for second and third day hair if you have hair close to my texture or kinkier and are one that doesn’t wash and style your hair every two to three days. Also because it’s not strictly water, its safe to use every day until wash day because it won’t cause your hair to frizz up between wash days.
Since kinkier hair textures need products with a slippery consistency to help with the detangling, I feel the Nourishing Moisture shampoo, conditioner, and masque are better suited for men and women with looser curl patterns or for those with processed hair (relaxed or permed) as those hair types do not tangle easily. I do not recommend the shampoo, conditioner, and hair mask if you are a person with kinky curly textured hair like mine (see my bio photo) because of its thick consistency. I do however, recommend using their Ultra Rich Moisture line if you have kinky textured hair.
