Prince’s autopsy has been completed and his remains were released to his family today. While the medical examiner has not released any autopsy findings, more details surrounding his death have been released. According to Fox News live on April 22, reports are now saying that emergency plane landing last week was not because Prince was suffering from the flu, but because Prince was suffering a drug overdose.
The overdose was serious enough for the paramedics to deliver Narcan to Prince right on the tarmac. Fox News live notes that these reports have not been confirmed, but they are coming from TMZ. This is a reputable website, so people have picked up the information that TMZ is sharing and reporting on this today.
Narcan, which is often called the “save drug,” counteracts the effect of an opiate overdose almost immediately. He was told he needed to stay in that hospital for 24-hours, but when his handlers told the medical staff that Prince had to have a private room, they couldn’t oblige. They didn’t have a private room to give him, so they left. That would explain why he looked fine, according to witnesses, the night following the plane ride when he threw that party for his fans at his home.
Reports also indicate that at 7 p.m., the night before Prince was found dead, he is seen pacing in front of Walgreens. Prince had reportedly visited Walgreens four times in the last week. It is also been reported that Prince has been on the drug Percocet since having hip surgery a few years ago and this is the drug he overdosed on while in his private plane last Friday, prompting the emergency landing for medical treatment. This has not been confirmed by police.
The medical examiner released a statement today saying the autopsy was completed at 1 p.m. and his body was released to the family this afternoon. MSN News is reporting that the results of the autopsy’s toxicology tests may take a few weeks to come back. Police report at a news conference on Friday afternoon that they “have no reason to believe at this point that this was a suicide.” They also did not find any signs of foul play or violence in his home.
Police also said that there were no calls involving Prince or his home in the last year. They said that Prince’s staff people could not get a hold of him so they went to Paisley Park to check on him and found him in the elevator and then called 911. He was fully dressed in what appeared to be daytime clothes and not sleepwear. Prince was last seen when he was dropped off at home the night before he was found dead at 8 p.m. by an acquaintance. This would coincide with the report that he was at Walgreens at 7 p.m.
Other reports today talk about how the people who live in the same area would hear a knock on their door and it would be Prince. He was a Jehovah’s Witness and he would often go to homes and talk with folks about this religion and his beliefs. Not too many people would turn Prince away if he knocked on their door. He was a great neighbor and he truly loved Minnesota and the people who lived there!
