The Southeastern Homebrewers Association (SHA) is fifteen members strong, with homebrew clubs in GA, SC, and NC. Each club offers its members an opportunity to learn more about homebrewing, and also the camaraderie of sharing each other’s latest brews at club meetings. The mission of SHA is to promote homebrewing, mead making and cider making; promote membership in local homebrewing clubs; and to bring homebrewing clubs from the southeastern US together to compete and judge in an effort to help all club members make the best beer, mead, or cider possible.
Currently, there are 15 member clubs in the Southeastern Homebrewers Association. Each is open to new members, and if you live nearby, please visit them and check it out. The member clubs are: Alcohol Thru Fermentation, Battleground Brewer’s Guild, CABREW, Cary Apex Raleigh Brewers of Yore, Carolina BrewMasters, Catawba Lager & Ale Sampling Society, Down East Alers, Fermentation Nation, High Point Observers of Pint Science, Low Country Libations, Mountain Ale and Lager Tasters, Palmetto State Brewers, Savannah Brewers League, Triangle Unabashed Homebrewers, and Wort City Brewers.
Make sure to check this link for the competitions available through these clubs.
The results from the participating SHA-club competitions are compiled over the calendar year to determine the overall winning-est brewer over that year’s events. Each ribbon at each comp earns points (3/2/1 pts for 1st/2nd/3rd place, respectively). To be eligible for SHA annual awards, competition entrants must be a member in good standing of a SHA-member club.
