Described as continuing education for the most discriminating angler, Jon B. Cave’s Performance Fly-fishing School is coming to Titusville, FL on April 29 and 30, 2016.
The Complete Fly-Fishing School includes an afternoon of fly tying and 1 day of fly-casting/fishing instruction. Jon Cave’s Performance Fly-Fishing School is one of the premier programs in the country. Thousands of students have attended his schools including fishing guides, fly shop owners, staffs of fishing lodges, casting instructors and avid anglers seeking the very best in fly-fishing instruction.
The highly comprehensive 1 1⁄2 day course is designed to take both beginning and highly experienced anglers from the fundamentals of fly-fishing to the most advanced techniques. The class has been enhanced by adding fly tying by Chris Kincaid, a Renzetti Ambassador Tyer. Kincaid has gained recognition for his saltwater flies. He will demonstrate patterns that any angler can tie and use with great success.
Because of the limited class size, Cave customizes the instruction for students based on their individual experience, ability, and needs. Consequently, individuals at all skill levels can benefit regardless of whether they’re making their first cast or just in need of a little tune-up.
Cave’s unique and easy-to-understand instruction includes lectures, PowerPoint presentations, demonstrations, visual aids, individual video analysis, and lots of patient one-on-one instruction to quickly make attendees the accomplished fly fishers they’ve always wanted to be.
Over the course of 1 1⁄2 days students will be completely immersed in fly-fishing – everything from casting to fly tying to on-water experiences. The school is aimed at helping everyone attain the highest degree of proficiency.
The main focus of the school is on casting techniques, including various casting strokes, loop control, accuracy, distance, double-haul, and presentation. Knots, leader construction, equipment, fly tying procedures, and fly-fishing tactics for popular gamefish are among other covered topics. The school’s goal is to provide students with all-around skills that will serve them equally well on various species that inhabit both fresh and saltwater environments.
Classes will be held at the Renzetti Inc. facility in Titusville, Florida, 8800 Grissom Pkwy, Titusville FL 32780. Registration is available by calling (321) 267-7705.
The school begins on Friday afternoon with a meet and greet. Cave and Kincaid will present a fly tying session from noon – 5 pm. In the process of tying some popular flies, students will learn about: fly-tying techniques; knots; tools; characteristics of various materials; hook variations; fly patterns; etc. The session will end with a social gathering with the Renzettis.
Saturday starts off with a Continental breakfast at 8 am followed by tying demonstrations by Cave and Kincaid. Cave will follow with a Performance Fly-Casting PowerPoint presentation. Hands-on casting instruction begins at 9:30 am. In addition, Chris Kincaid will be available at the vise all day to assist any student who may want one-on-one fly tying instruction.
The group will break for lunch with Kincaid once again on the vise. Fly-casting instruction resumes after lunch and continues until approximately 4 pm. The day will end with a question and answer session followed by a class celebration.
Tuition for the full 1 1⁄2 day school is $400 and includes:
1. Performance Fly-Fishing School (1 1⁄2 days) casting and tying

3. Hors d’ouvres during fly tying session and Saturday celebration
