Whether you’re thin or thick, straight or round-ish, you might be one of the Boomer women who have trouble finding jeans/pants that fit you just right and look good enough to wear places fancier than the grocery store. The new SlimSation pants may do the trick. Happily, the size chart gives generous allowances (for real women) and a couple of the styles come in plus sizes.
Designed by John Bourgeois, SlimSation is intended to fill the void for comfy yet trendy (read: shorter length) pants in the women’s wear market. Regarding a sample tried recently, the material is smooth and breathable, plus it’s crisp enough to both hold its shape and shed wrinkles. Yet it’s soft and dressy-looking enough to wear with a fancy top. There’s none of that thick, gathered-elastic thing going on at the waist either, and it’s not hugely baggy in the lower hip area like some. Instead, it has a specially designed slenderizing panel that stretches to go easily over your hips and yet remains flat and smooth once the pants are in place.
Since the various options (multiple designs from skinny leggings to relaxed pant) come in only one length (31″), they might not be right for super-short or taller women. On a plus-size woman 5′ 7.5″ the relaxed pant hits just at the top of the shoe and looks a bit like an ankle pant when you sit down. Same with wearing it with today’s super-high heels (probably not a common danger for most of us Boomer women). As far as the slimming panel, you could consider ordering a size down to get the full effect of tummy-holding, but not sure how comfortable that would be for sitting. Nice thing about the relaxed pant is that it’s not baggy on the legs and it has a slightly larger leg opening (almost like a bootcut) to help balance the look. Nice.
Given that a well-known, long-time trusted catalog vendor went cheap a while ago on the material in its women’s stretch twill jeans/pants – and raised the price as well – the price tag for SlimSation ($59.00- $79.00) seems reasonable for the quality. The promotional info says: “The lightweight, breathable fabric is crafted to fit and shape every body.”
Their website is crystal clear on the style, fit and sizing of each option. Ordering is a breeze; be sure to select either “Missy” or “Womens” on the left side of the web page. Plus, they have style consultants to help by phone (within 10 days of receipt) if you get something that doesn’t fit right. Returns ship free within 30 days.
If you’re someone who’s always looking for a pant that is reliably comfortable and looks good, check out the new SlimSation pant options. Judging by the website and the people involved, chances are good that if women’s styles change, the SlimSation designers will keep up. And you won’t be forced to start searching for a reliable pant all over again.
