Examiner asks their Boston music and night life fans to send in their photos from events that they’ve attended in the Boston area or beyond. We like to feature your photos in our photo of the week and also, our throwback Thursday column. This week’s photo is of singer and song writer, Christine Ohlman, affectionately known as the Beehive Queen, for her over the top teased up do. James Montgomery, blues and harp legend, joins Ohlman on stage for this photograph, taken by CJ Yuhas Photography.
Ohlman, is a performer that lights up the stage when she performs. Her stage clothes are a reflection of her effervescence with gold lame pants and always something in leopard. She is well known for her work as lead vocalist for the Saturday Night Live Band since 1991, where she is the warm up and entertainment during the commercial breaks. Ohlman also fronts her own band, Christine Ohlman and Rebel Montez, with Cliff Goodwin on guitar, Larry Donahue on drums, and Michael Colbath on bass. They will be performing at the Amazing Things Art Center, 160 Hollis Street in Framingham on March 26.
Montgomery is also busy these days, on the road as lead vocalist with the Johnny Winter All Star Band which celebrates the music of the blues/rock legend. The band has been covering dates all over New England and will be at the Bull Run, 215 Great Road in Shirley on March 25.
The James Montgomery Band has had featured members since coming together in 1991. They include rock star Billy Squire, Jeff Golub (Rod Stewart Band), Jeff Levine (Joe Cocker Band), Bobby Chuinard (Ted Nugent Band), to name a few. Montgomery also toured with Aerosmith, the Allman Brothers, Bruce Springsteen, Bonnie Raitt, and has shared the stage with BB King, Buddy Guy, James Cotton, and the list goes on.
