Saturday, January 30, 2016, was the perfect day to become motivated to learn some new and incredible dance steps while burning loads of calories. At the newly opened PGA National Sports & Racquet Club, located on the grounds of the famous vacation destination, PGA National Resort & Spa, one of the “Dancing With The Stars” favorites, Louis Van Amstel, brought his LeBlast Master Class to exercise-driven and enthusiastic dance aficionado attendees.
It was a small yet exclusive group that gathered to try their skills at this class and the energy could be felt all throughout this new 33,000 square foot facility. Class attendees even had the opportunity to meet, greet and thank Louis after the class for this amazing experience. Amstel has partnered with many a celebrity on the heavily watched reality television show, “Dancing With The Stars” ranging from Lisa Rinna to Priscilla Presley to Kelly Osbourne to Kendra Wilkinson. In addition to his appearances on this show, Amstel has choreographed seven dances on season 5 of So You Think You Can Dance. Three of the seven dances made it to the finale and were mentioned as the judges’ favorite picks at the Kodak theater in Hollywood. He continued choreographing in seasons 6, 7, and 8.
The class took place on the 30th from 4:00 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. and everyone stood ready and waiting for dance moves in their workout gear. LaBlast is a dance fitness program based on all the dances you see on “Dancing with the Stars” – It’s totally partner free and uses a wide variety of music in the program. The program is an interval based cardio workout that uses several dance styles including ballroom dancing and you learn the true skill of dance, while blasting away calories. It is a fun filled, high energy, dance class that will both challenge and inspire people of all ages and fitness levels, while dancing to music of any genre, artist, and era.
The idea for LaBlast® came about after season two of “Dancing with the Stars”, when Louis’ celebrity partner, Lisa Rinna, confided that she had an amazing experience working with him and wanted to keep dancing after the show season ended. As far as she knew there weren’t any classes offered that fit exactly what she’d been doing with Louis and, after a discussion between the two friends, it quickly became apparent to Louis that he had an opportunity to create something new and exciting – something that wasn’t already out there. Louis has been traveling across the nation, holding these classes and building a huge fan base of exercise and dance enthusiasts along the way.
The class may now be behind us but the 33,000-square-foot PGA National Sports & Racquet Club which recently underwent an impressive $4 million comprehensive facelift has so much more to offer members. Upgrades include state-of-the-art exercise equipment, indoor racquet ball court, three aerobics studios with new sound systems, five-lane saltwater lap pool, spin room with video road mapping, indoor volleyball court, two lighted pickle / paddle ball courts, 18 Har Tru tennis courts (11 lit for night play) and one lighted hard court with a hitting wall.
Currently the Sports & Racquet Club is offering an introductory 30 day trial membership for $249 for individuals and $399 for families. This is the year to get in shape and this is the atmosphere to make it happen.
