Trying to get people interested in anything related to history is just as much of a challenge as those making history nowadays. Thankfully creators Derek Waters and Jeremy Konner teamed up to bring Drunk History to Comedy Central. Now fans can bring home more of the drunken fun with Drunk History Season 3 on DVD.
Drunk History presents historical reenactments from A-list talent as told by inebriated storytellers. Drunken and often incoherent narrations provide a unique take on the familiar and less familiar people and events from our country’s great past with unforgettable results. Host Derek Waters, along with an ever-changing cast of actors and comedians, travels across the country to present the rich tales that every city in this land has to offer. While the stories here are true it’s the execution that makes it stand out. They could have easily just had these various people tell their historical tales with the same reenactments and it might have still worked, but when you fuse alcohol to the mix you have comedy gold. Each episode offers up two layers of fun with the first being that of the drunken storyteller as they struggle to keep their thoughts focused to tell the proper historical story and that of the reenactment. This season stepped things up with not only more episodes for this season but also just felt like it was all together funnier as well. The genius behind this show comes more so from the reenactments themselves as they act it out and voice it to the drunk telling the story without editing it down in anyway. This offers up some hilarious moments from both the story and the actor trying to bring it to life. Much like the previous seasons this season offered up plenty of cameos once again including Justin Long, Greg Kinnear, Josh Hartnett, Johnny Knoxville, Maya Rudolph, Jason Mamoa, Octavia Spencer, Will Ferell, George Wallace, Topher Grace, Colin Hanks, Jaleel White, Michael Cera, Giancarlo Esposito, Henry Winkler and so many more. There is really no explaination that will do this show justice, because thanks to the person telling the story it is never the same, but always delivers the laughs.
This season stepped things up while keeping the same format intact. This latest collection not only features all 13 episodes of the season 3, but special features including extended and deleted scenes, 5 totally unblurred episodes and more fun that takes you deeper into the bottle of fun that is this series. Be sure to grab your copy of Drunk History Seasons 3 on DVD when it hits stores on March 1st as well as Seasons 1 & 2 available now from Paramount Home Entertainment.
