Papa Muse, known as Way to his friends, wrote a song and produced his own music video for Rocking of the Throne, a song he composed to convey the need for a revolution in the United States. He writes, “I don’t want profit driven corporations deciding my fate, do you? Please watch and share my first home made music video ‘Rocking of the Throne.’ Let’s spread and carry on the message that we need to reclaim our democracy from the super wealthy who currently control our political system.” Yes, he and an army of revolutionaries. In the interview above, he discusses why he wrote the song and produced the music video for it, explains that Senator Sanders doesn’t “flip flop on the issues just to get elected,” and why he is involved in the movement to eliminate plastics from the world.
Papa Muse is also the name of his band. They have put out an EP, Meaning Makers, which is available here. Rocking of the Throne can be heard here. Way wrote the main rif on his guitar quite a while back as an attempt to write something with a country feel, well out of his musical jurisdiction as he mostly plays rock. When Bernie Sanders started campaigning, he decided that he wanted to contribute in many ways. He has given money and bought a T-shirt (now he’s “a walking billboard”) and by writing this song he wanted to help people see that his message is not about him, it is about and for all of us.
His song, Rocking of the Throne, is meant as a rallying cry. It’s self-produced, warts and all, but that is, he conveyed, “a good thing in this case.” People should know that they have the ability to be heard, that their voice matters and that we do not need to settle or be repressed. “America” he wrote in an email, “was founded on patriotism and rebellion. The Government is supposed to work for us! This is a rare opportunity for our generation to set things straight and reclaim the great Democracy our forefathers intended for us.” “Unbridled Capitalism is dangerous,” he wrote, “As dangerous as communism. It takes the right balance between capitalism and social programs that protect all of us. Life is about balance and right now Government is out of balance. So regardless of what he can accomplish, Senator Sanders is spreading the message that people need to hear. We live in a plutocracy not a democracy.”
Way asserts, “The oil industry owns much of today’s world economy, and oil and petroleum based products never bio-degrade. That is how plastic is currently created, from oil. Plastic is the next global warming in scope, as it is everywhere in our world; and every piece of plastic ever created lasts forever. Plus half of what is produced is made for single-use (disposable). Additionally studies have proven that plastic leaches into our environment and is an endocrine disruptor. Plastic and the chemicals in it, produce environmental estrogen which is now being linked to infertility, cancer, autism. obesity and other diseases. I can easily imagine a few generations ahead when we need to pay companies like Monsanto, PepsiCo and the like, to inseminate our women, because sperm counts have already dropped in half since the 1930’s.”
He continued, “The oil, chemical, and plastic industries earn profits on all of this, and they own the policy makers. This problem has been largely unaddressed and I am working day and night on a social media event called the Plastic Free Challenge to educate people and to provide sustainable alternatives to petroleum based plastics.” To learn more about moving away from toxic petroleum based plastics to ensure the health our children and future generations, and all animals on earth, please take the Plastic Free Challenge at www.PlasticFreeChallenge.org .
