Share Our Strength and Palm Beach County eateries are mixing things up this year with an inaugural cocktail fundraising competition, The Shake Up, taking place at destinations throughout the county. Beginning today, The Shake Up pits specialty cocktails crafted by 10 of the county’s top restaurants, bars and breweries against one another throughout the month, with the goal of raising the most funds through proceeds of their sales for Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry campaign.
The two establishments that raise the most will compete head to head in a final round at Palm Beach’s Taste of the Nation at the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts on April 14. Tickets for the event start at $125 (www.ce.nokidhungry.org/palmbeach).
During the month-long competition, the participating establishments will offer the Share Our Strength-inspired cocktail with varying promotional times and offers. The competition’s inaugural-year participants include Avocado Grill, Grato, Funky Buddha Brewery, Pistache French Bistro, Max’s Harvest, Max’s Social House, Oceana Coffee, The Cooper, and Salute Market: Restaurant, Bar, Wine & Liquor Market.
Additionally, Social House (Lake Worth) and Earth & Sugar are offering a special dessert/cocktail pairing for the cause.
The venues are not only competing to raise the most funds, but also to secure two coveted spots to serve in the bustling foyer bars and compete in the The Shake Up Throw Down hosted at this year’s Taste of the Nation. The two winning restaurants will be announced on April 11.
The competing cocktails include Pistache French Bistro’s Blood Orange Manhattan, The Cooper’s Cooper Cooler with St. Augustine vodka, honey, orange and lemon, Avocado Grill’s Watermelon Cucumber Martini, Grato’s frozen SOS (Sun Over Sand) with tequila, pineapple, FL orange, mango and ginger, and the Social House Spritz with prosecco, Aperol, fresh orange juice and an orange twist from Social House paired with vanilla cake soaked in orange liquor with caramelized pineapple and spun sugar from Earth & Sugar.
Another combination offer comes from the Funky Buddha Brewery which is offering donations from every sale of its More Moro, a seasonal blood orange IPA, as well from every Brown Bag Cheddar Popcorn sold in March.
