Health has been a primary concern for the Green Bay Packers to round off the NFL’s regular season. Just when you thought the piling of injuries couldn’t get much worse, the Packers released their largest and arguably most important injury report of the year.
On Wednesday, the Packers released their weekly Wednesday injury report to the public, a report that consisted of 17 active roster players, including several key injuries that could play a major role in Sunday afternoon’s playoff matchup against the Washington Redskins.
Among the many listed, David Bakhtiari, Eddie Lacy, Sam Shields, and Josh Sitton, all presumable due to the recent question marks regarding their status. Although presumable, these injuries could prove vital on Sunday, as these four players were all listed as either “limited” or “did not participate” in Wednesday’s practice, and their status is uncertain looking forward to Washington.
Arguably one of the most detrimental of those listed is the injury to Shields, who suffered a concussion in the Packers’ victory against the Dallas Cowboys on Dec. 13. Shields is in danger of missing his fourth straight game due to the concussion, and did not practice on Wednesday.
Packers’ head coach Mike McCarthy noted on Wednesday that Shields is still going through the league-mandated concussion protocol.
Another troubling sight on the Packers’ injury report is the scarcity of healthy offensive lineman. In total, the Packers’ injury report listed six of their offensive lineman on the report, including Bakhtiari, Sitton, and Corey Linsley.
Bakhtiari has missed his last two games at left tackle due to a ankle injury, where Sitton has since replaced him at left tackle. Sitton did not participate due to a stressing back injury.
With these injuries weakening the left side of the Packers’ offensive line, questions remain in regards to who will fill several spots in case these injuries persist. McCarthy addressed some of these concerns to the media on Wednesday, noting the offensive tackle position is stressed in particular.
Among the other troubling injuries, Lacy is listed as limited with a rib injury, right tackle Bryan Bulaga was limited with an ankle injury, and defensive tackles Mike Daniels and Letroy Guion were also limited due to a hamstring and a foot injury.

The Packers travel to FedEx Field in Washington D.C. on Sunday to take on the Washington Redskins, kickoff is scheduled for 3:40 p.m. CDT.
