Based out of Manchester, Boohoo.com provides online shoppers with chic style staples and trendy items with elevated style from that of its competitors. Boohoo.com has grown over the past few years by garnering the attention of the trendy millenial generation through cheap options for the season’s hottest trends. Charlie XCX of “Boom Clap” fame recently (2015) launched a collaboration collection with Boohoo, accompanied by an edgy ad campaign.
The brand was created by designer Carol Kane who, according to Bloomberg, has worked on marketing, product and brand strategy both domestically and abroad at Boohoo. She has 25 years of experience in the fashion industry.
I received a few pieces from Boohoo.com with an attempt to save money, while still looking chic (it’s my opinion that Boohoo caters to a more fashion-savvy crowd than the general masses). Bonus: Boohoo offers a “soft tailoring” section that has the perfect pieces to put together a nice, semi-casual work outfit for those trying to look chic in metropolitan high-rises. Boohoo is a welcome alternative to the fast-fashion behemoth Forever 21 as it has a slightly more evergreen style than the overly-styled Forever 21 aesthetic.
If you are wary about online shopping citing sizing issues, Boohoo may not be the best outlet for your needs. Boohoo lists sizes in UK standard (even for US customers), and the translation from UK to US may cause a few headaches. There is some guess-work involved in figuring out which number is the right one for your US size, although Boohoo does offer a translation on the site. Other than that the sizes are true-to-fit (once you figure out which fit is correct).
The general feel is not-overdone, not-flashy but very on-point with current trends.
The price point range on average is about $10 (!) to $35 with variations on either end. Not bad. Not bad at all.
The quality of the pieces are what you would expect from a typical fast-fashion company. A top I bought a few months ago now has a break in the seam. Am I suprised? No. I will probably just buy another for about $20.
Overall, Boohoo is a great, trustworthy Internet find. I vote for Boohoo.
Note: This post was not sponsored by Boohoo.com in anyway. I am, however, always open to samples because Boohoo.com is awesome.
