The Notre Dame vs. North Carolina live stream online and TV coverage will be among the highlights of the 2016 ACC Tournament schedule on Friday as March Madness continues. Both teams are currently among those that will be participating in the Big Dance, but boosting or securing one’s seed could be on the minds of both teams. For the Fighting Irish, they knocked off Duke a day ago and another quality win could seriously get the committee looking to upgrade their spot. As for UNC, they’re considered a potential No. 1 seed and a strong run in the conference tourney could help make that case. The 2016 ACC conference tournament live stream and televised action arrives through ESPN networks on Friday night.
On March 10, Sporting News reported that UNC arrived to the semifinals game today by defeating Pittsburgh 88-71 a day ago. Now they’ll face a Notre Dame team that has been trouble for them in both the regular and postseason games they’ve met in. These two teams met just once this regular season with Notre Dame coming out on top 80-76 over a then-ranked No. 2 UNC squad. The last time these two schools met in the ACC Tournament was just a season ago in the finals. In that game, the Fighting Irish captured their first-ever title since joining the conference with a 90-82 win which may still be on the minds of the Tar Heels. Both schools got wins in their quarterfinals games on Thursday, over Duke and Pittsburgh, respectively. In particular, Notre Dame fought their way back to tie a Duke team and that seemingly had them beat, and then defeated them in overtime.
Among the players to watch in today’s game will be Bonzie Colson for the Irish and Brice Johnson for the Heels. Coulson had a double-double in Notre Dame’s regular season win over UNC and did the same against Duke in yesterday’s overtime thriller. Johnson also recorded a double-double in the loss to the Fighting Irish with 14 points and 10 boards. Against Pittsburgh, he tallied 19 points and 10 rebounds. In the final game of UNC’s season, he helped top the Blue Devils with an 18 point and 21 rebound performance, showing just how much of a monster he can be in the paint. However, the biggest thing for the Heels to focus on may be maintaining a lead when they have one, as they’ve let double-digit leads evaporate in that regular season game as well as last year’s tournament championship game.
Vegas odds makers first listed the Tar Heels as seven point favorites to win today’s matchup in Washington, D.C. with the line moving up about a half point at various sports books. On the moneyline, UNC is a -330 favorite with the Fighting Irish considered +265 underdogs. Today’s over/under points total is sitting at 159 for the complete game. North Carolina continues to be listed amongst top contenders to win the National Championship, as Vegas Insider is giving them 8 to 1 odds to win it all. That makes them second only to Michigan State. Notre Dame is currently more of a longshot at 65 to 1 odds.
