After living in Columbia for fourteen years, I finally went into Nordstrom Rack last weekend. I’ve driven by many times, taken quick peeks in the window, and been afraid that I couldn’t afford anything in the store. If you’ve also passed by Nordstrom Rack thinking that there was nothing for thrifty fashion shoppers, it’s time to think again. If you have the courage to drive on Harbison Boulevard and the patience to wait for long lines at traffic lights, you’ll be pleasantly surprised when you arrive at Nordstrom Rack.
The first thing I noticed was a pretty pair of Teddi bow slingback pumps by Nina Shoes, reduced from $99 to $15.97. I could afford this! A little looking around revealed a Free People seamless layering cami on sale for $5, a Splendid print cropped top for $14 and a pair of Melrose and Market embroidered skinny jeans for $21.99. Not only did these prices allay my fears and change my thinking; I actually make a few purchases. If you’ve never dared to shop at Nordstrom Rack, this is a great time to begin. Take advantage of clearance savings of up to 84% off chic looks, designer swimwear and fresh spring styles. Put together complete outfits with deep discounts on apparel, shoes, handbags and accessories. The prices are competitive with low to mid-range department stores and actually better than some.
For a fresh corporate look, pair a Free People nouveau blouse done in soft shades of blue with Classiques Entier slim black ankle pants. Soft ruffles accent the neck of the chic hi-low top, featuring a crossover draped front and large keyhole and lace combo at the upper sleeves. The blouse falls loosely to below the hip, making it easy to wear and especially figure flattering. Long sleeves, lightweight fabric and soft colors make it ideal for transitioning into spring. Add height with Nina peep-toe pumps and carry a Vince Camuto black leather clutch for the bare necessities. Keep jewelry and accessories to a minimum to showcase the Free People blouse.
