Week 17 of the 2015-16 NFL schedule will take place this Sunday with a lot at stake for several teams. Isn’t it amazing that it always seems that the playoff picture is never clear until every game of the entire season is completed? This year is no different! While the NFC knows which teams are in, the matchups are far from set. In the AFC, a lot can still happen as the Steelers and Colts are outside looking in, but with wins Sunday and a little help, they can be last second party-crashers to the postseason.
According to a CBS report, Houston and the Jets are both in the playoffs with a win Sunday, that part is simple. However the Colts and Steelers are in if they win and the Jets and/or Houston lose. Denver clinches the AFC West with a win over San Diego and officially sews up the No. 2 seed and earns a bye, but if the Broncos lose and Kansas City wins, the Chiefs are the AFC West champs and the Broncos could fall to the No. 4 or 5 seed. Whew, it is still a bit of a mess!
In the NFC the Packers will face the Vikings in a winner take all game of sorts. The winner of this battle will clinch the NFC North and be assured of a first round home game, while the loser will be a Wild Card team. While Arizona and Carolina know they have first round byes, they will be scoreboard watching Sunday, that’s for sure. The Panthers can clinch home field throughout the playoffs with a win over Tampa Bay. However if they lose and Arizona beats Seattle, the Cardinals will clinch home field throughout the NFC postseason. Yes, Week 17 matters!
Another matter at hand is finishing the season strong against the Vegas number. Last week no picks were made due to the holidays, but through the first 15 weeks, the picks have been great. Heading into Week 17, the picks are 21 games over .500, and anyone who picks the NFL against the Vegas line knows that those numbers would net a sweet profit. Hopefully you followed along!
