There’s a new Houston family feud over Whitney Houston’s and Bobbi Kristina’s estates. This time the beef is with Bedelia Hargrove, the court-appointed conservator of Bobbi Kristina’s estate. After months of requesting the release of funds to cover the costs of operating the estate from co-trustees Pat Houston and Cissy Houston, Hargrove is done paying games. According to BET News on Feb. 15, Hargrove is hauling the two Houston women to court and charging them with “breach of trust” for their refusal to pay the costs associated with the administration of Bobbi Kristina’s estate.
On Feb. 15, Centric TV reported that as co-trustees, both Pat Houston and Cissy Houston must approve of all outgoing payments and sign off on all checks. Their claim that they refuse to pay because they feel administrative costs submitted by Hargrove are not “reasonable” will probably fall on deaf ears because the compensation for conservators is a fixed percentage of the estate which is established by court.
As mentioned in Wills, Trusts & Estates on Feb. 15, the Houston women have a track record of trying to block the payout of money from Whitney Houston’s and Bobbi Kristina’s estates. When Bobbi Kristina was in a coma, it was widely reported that the Houstons (Pat in particular) were trying to bully Bobby Brown into pulling the plug because Bobbi Kristina’s escalating medical expenses were “costing too much” and draining the account. Not long after that it was widely reported that 80-year-old Cissy Houstonr vowed to fight Bobbi Kristina’s father Bobby Brown “to the grave” keep any of Whitney Houston’s millions from falling into his hands.
In 2012, mere months after Whitney Houston’s death, Pat Houston and Cissy Houston, as co-executors of Whitney Houston’s, will filed legal documents and hauled 19-year-old Bobbi Kristina into court in an effort to limit the amount of money she could receive from her mother’s estate. Many felt the legal action was egged on by Pat. Cissy Houston later backed down because of the rift it caused with her granddaughter. The three women came to some sort of agreement, and the case was dismissed.
In 2014 in a rant on her Twitter account, Bobbi Kristina called her “Auntie Pat” a gold-digger and accused her of spending excessive amounts of money and living a lavish lifestyle at the expense of the Whitey Houston Estate. She also claimed her family was trying to gain access to mother’s estate by calling “unstable” saying “My family say I’m crazy so they can get hold of my money. ” Bobby Brown’s outspoken sister, Leolah Brown has repeatedly accused Pat Houston of being “money-hungry” and has continues to maintain that the deaths of Whitney Houston and Bobbi Kristina were part of a conspiracy by Pat in order to gain complete control over the two estates.
Many people are firmly convinced that the ongoing Houston family feuds over Bobbi Kristina’s inheritance from Whitney Houston’s estate are motivated by selfishness and greed. According to the terms of Whitney Houston’s will, the remainder of the money left in her estate after Bobbi Kristina’s death is to be divided among Cissy Houston and her two sons. (Whitney’s half-brother, Gary, is married to Pat.) Cissy Houston is already a multi-millionaire in her own right, with a $5 million net worth. However the more money that stays in the Bobbi Kristina-Whitney Houston estate, the more money that will eventually find its way into Pat and Gary Houston’s personal accounts.
