The stage is finally set for the 2016 NCAA basketball Final Four, and according to an AL.com (March 30) report, the location, dates TV schedule, live stream and betting odds are now available. The 2016 Final Four takes place on Saturday, April 2 at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas, and the remaining schools are the North Carolina Tar Heels, Syracuse Orange, Oklahoma Sooners and Villanova Wildcats.
As far as TV scheduling and live streams are concerned, the 2016 NCAA men’s basketball semifinals will be broadcast on TBS and online at NCAA March Madness Live. The 2016 Final Four matchups consist of Villanova taking on Oklahoma at 5:09 p.m. ET, followed by North Carolina versus Syracuse at 7:49 p.m. ET.
As reported by SI.com (March 31), 2016 Final Four odds indicate that one of the most improbable teams to win it all at the start of the tournament is now the second betting favorite. That is the case of the Wildcats, who find themselves trailing only UNC in Las Vegas as the mathematical frontrunners at +260.
“Even when the seedings came out, I think there was more talk about who was the No. 1, who was the No. 2, and where were they seeded among each other, than (in) any year,” said Villanova head coach Jay Wright. “Usually you talk about who made the tournament, who didn’t get in the tournament. All the questions were about the top. I think that is indicative of the season.”
Speaking of improbable teams, no one expected (10th seeded) Syracuse to make it this far, especially after making a habit of falling behind in games. Deservingly earning the moniker of “Comeback Kids,” the Orange, who are led by head coach Jim Boeheim will have to defy +1000 betting odds in order to earn the program’s second NCAA men’s national title in history.
“We had a great comeback win against Gonzaga and got back to work two days later against Virginia, where we needed another comeback win,” Boeheim said. “We’ll be ready. That game will have nothing to do with the next game. We live in the future here. What you did yesterday, what you’re doing right now doesn’t matter. It’s what you do in the next game.”
For those wondering how 2016 Final Four point spreads stack up, the Villanova Wildcats are favored by a bucket against the Oklahoma Sooners (+2) and the OVER/UNDER is set at a combined total of 146 points. In the second game, the North Carolina Tar Heels (-10) are projected to crush the Syracuse Orange (+10) by double digits, and the O/U for that contest tallies 145 points.
Odds To Win 2016 NCAA Men’s Basketball National Championship (April 4):
