Last night’s episode of Food Network episode of “Mystery Diners” was titled, “Comic Book Caper.” Charles Stiles and his crew, of private investigators using new technology came to Brooklyn, to meet with Vlane Carter, the owner of Action Burger.
Charles met with Vlane and brought along Dennis, a private investigator to consult with the owner of a Sci-Fi Comic Book and Restaurant combo. Vlane even created his own comic book super heroes to accompany the food choices. He has some very valuable comics that have disappeared from his establishment. Dennis will be checking to see if the comics are being sold in the area or on the internet.
The control room enabled Charles and Vlane to watch the goings-on at the restaurant and identify each member of his staff. Dennis joined them and told Vlane that background checks on all employees checked out clean. He did, however, find his comics for sale on the internet; Green Lantern, Hawkman and Donald Duck were for sale. When Dennis reached out, the items were already sold. Vlane hired a woman to pose as his action hero Bellona, but she came in and had the staff eating out of her hand, while the customers walked out.
They sent in Jamie to pose as a customer looking for rare comics, one member of Vlane’s staff said the comic book he had was worth $300, and Bellona conned him out of the comic for $10. She then went to Vlane’s office, and it was online in minutes. Charles sent Vlane to bring her and the manager to the control room immediately. Bellona was fired on the spot, and the manager was reprimanded for arguing with customers about who is the best superhero. He was put on probation for three months, and another Bellona was hired; one who does not steal, thanks to Charles and his staff of “Mystery Diners.”
