On January 27, the 2016 Cesar Award nominees were announced. The 41st Annual Cesar Awards will be on February 26 at the Chatelet Theatre in Paris. The award show will be two days before the Academy Awards. So who is nominated this year? Well both the Best Actor and Best Actress category is filled with big names in French cinema. Loubna Abidar, Emmanuelle Bercot, Cecile de France, Catherine Deneuve, Catherine Frot, Isabelle Huppert, and Soria Zeroual are in the running for Best Actress. The Best Actor category has Vincent Cassel, Jean-Pierre Bacri, Francois Damiens, Gerard Depardieu, Fabrice Luchini, Vincent Lindon, and Antonythasan Jesuthasan. So it’ll be interesting to see who will be going home with an award that night.
The Best Film category includes; “Dheepan,” Fatima,” “The Measure of a Man,” Marguerite,” “Mon Roi,” “Mustang,” “Standing Tall,”and “My Golden Days.” The Best Director nominees are Jacques Audiard, Stephane Brize, Xavier Giannoli, Maiwenn, Deniz Gamze Erguven, Emmanuelle Bercot, and Arnaud Desplechin. It’s also interesting to note that Deniz Gamze Erguven’s film “Mustang,” is also nominated in the First Film category. Though that’s along with other nominated Cesar awards this year too.
Michael Douglas will be receiving a honorary Cesar Award that night too. So that’s just a quick glimpse at some of the nominees for the 41st Annual Cesar Awards.
