Would you like to be involved in a murder mystery? If so, attend “MURDER AT CAFE NOIR: Dinner and a Comic Tribute to the Bogart Movies of the 1940s” at St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church, located at 8245 Getwell Road, Southaven, Mississippi. This interactive play will be presented on April 22, 23 & 24, 2016 by the Kudzu Players.
Murder at Cafe Noir is a popular mystery dinner show which has had weekly productions all over the country, since its premiere in 1989. This 1940s detective story features Rick Archer, P.I., who attempts to find a curvaceous runaway on the forgotten island of Mustique. The victim in this play is the owner of the Cafe Noir, whose body washed ashore onto the island. He has been murdered, and Rick’s quarry was the last person seen with him. The private investigator must use every trick in the book to find the cafe owner’s killer. The list of suspects include a French madame and club manager, a voodoo priestess, a dishonest and conniving British attorney, a black marketeer and the female runaway. The audience votes twice on what they want Rick to do next and these decisions change the flow of this comic tribute to the Bogart era.
This presentation of the play will be directed by Emily Chateau and is rated PG. The cast includes Rick Archer – Hayden Montgomery, Madam Toureau – Judy Marshall, Sheila Wonderly – Brie Leazer, Anthony Cairo – Charles McGowan, Marie Larue – Jacquelene Cooper, Simon Gutterman – Justin Bixler, and Thursby/Vangilder/Rigfield – Benjamin Beam.
