A scene of pure horror unfolded at the entrance to a Moscow train station when a nanny pulled the severed head of a child from her bag when police asked her for identification. A reporter who happened to be walking by, heard the woman yelling and saw the crowd growing, so she stopped to investigate. When she first saw the woman holding a severed head of a child, she thought it was fake.
According to Fox News on February 29, the growing crowd assured the RBC Daily reporter that the bloody head was indeed real and not a prop. When reporter Polina Nikolskaya first came on the scene the nanny was yelling in Arabic “Allahu Akbar,” which means “God is great” when translated.
Before Nikolskaya arrived, police had approached this nanny standing by the train station yelling that “God is great,” and they asked her for identification. This is when the woman, who was dressed in a hijab, pulled out the child’s severed head from a bag she was carrying and she started to yell, “I am a terrorist, I am your death.” She also started to yell that she was about to blow herself up.
After the woman walked up and down the street for a while longer, still yelling and carrying the severed head in her hand, a policeman tackled the woman to the ground. She was found not to have any explosives on her and she was taken into custody. Police found the 3 or 4-year-old child’s body in a nearby apartment that had been set on fire.
When the mother of the little girl heard what had happened she fainted and was rushed to a nearby hospital. The nanny had been with the family 18 months, according to the video above.
The BBC News reports today, “A criminal investigation was launched after the discovery of the remains of a child aged three to four, whose body bore traces of a violent death, in a charred flat on Narodnoye Opolcheniye Street in north-western Moscow.” The BBC also reports that this nanny, who was born in 1977, is a “citizen of one of the Central Asian states.”
Some of the witnesses said that this “woman walked up and down outside the metro station for some 20 minutes, shouting and brandishing the head.” It was a sight that was not only gruesome and disturbing beyond words, but the scene appeared surreal.
The authorities pieced the nanny’s actions together and found that she had waited for the parents and the older child to leave the house that morning then she brutally killed this toddler and severed her head. She then started the apartment on fire and fled, with the severed head in a bag.
She will undergo a psychiatric evaluation, but she did tell police she’s been having problems with her husband. They still have not determined a motive in this horrific crime, but this nanny will undergo tests to see if she is even aware of what she had done.
