Moscow: A horrific scene involving a nanny and a child is unfolding this week. A nanny, identified as wearing a traditional Islamic burqa, was taken into custody Monday by Russian officials after she reportedly beheaded a young girl under her care. The nanny was waving the child’s head and yelling the Arabic phrase for “God is great,” while threatening to “blow everyone up.”
Writes the AFP on Feb. 29, via Yahoo News: “The agitated woman, who was reportedly shouting ‘Allahu Akbar,’ was spotted pacing up and down outside a metro station in the northwestern part of the Russian capital, witness Alyona Kuratova told Dozhd TV, saying she was holding the head by its hair.”
The nanny, identified as 38-year-old Gyulchekhra Bobokulova, a native of Uzbekistan, was reportedly approached by officials at the metro station who were conducting a “document check.” When they approached the nanny, she became irate and yanked the girl’s severed head out of her bag.
Several men then overpowered the woman, knocking her to the ground. Witnesses said the girl’s head rolled away after the altercation. Russian investigators confirmed that a girl, approximately three or four years of age, was found nearby in northwest Moscow with “signs of violent death.”
“According to preliminary information, the child’s nanny – a native of one of the Central Asian countries, born in 1977 – waited until the parents left the apartment with their elder child and, guided by unknown motives, killed the little one and set the apartment on fire and left the scene,” the Investigative Committee said in a statement, according to Fox News.
“She was standing near the metro entrance and caught my attention because she was screaming Allahu Akbar,” commented RBC Daily reporter Polina Nikolskaya. “I saw that she had a bloodied head in her arms, but I thought it was not real. People in the crowd said it was real.”
“I am a terrorist, I want your death,” the nanny is heard screaming in heavily accented Russian. Video of the incident was uploaded to YouTube, showing the nanny pacing outside of the station with the severed head in the air, and later being taken down inside the metro station. [Warning: Graphic]
“Given the clearly deranged behavior of the detainee, investigators swiftly ordered her to undergo psychiatric tests to establish whether she is capable of understanding the significance of her actions,” the investigative committee said.
A bomb squad was called in after the nanny was removed. She was not found to be carrying any explosive devices.
